Oriel Architecture was initially instructed by the The Simon Digby Memorial Trust to investigate suitable sites in Sherborne for an affordable housing scheme. Having assessed a number of potential sites, one was selected which lay just outside the defined ‘development area’ at the end of a residential cul-de-sac in Sherborne.

The south west orientation of the three houses is designed to maximise passive solar gain with fully glazed sun spaces and larger windows on the south elevation.  The layout was designed in accordance with ‘lifetime homes’ standards, and the sustainable design included clay brickwork and cedar wall cladding together with a sedum roof covering to integrate the building into its semi-rural setting.
