The growth of this School has resulted in the introduction of several temporary modular classrooms which are now reaching the end of their life. Consequently, funding has been sought to construct a new classroom building to accommodate those classrooms currently contained within the temporary buildings. The proposed new building has been designed in line with the Department of Education’s ‘Baseline Designs’ in order to provide a cost-efficient, flexible and functional school building.
The new building is proposed to the north of the existing School buildings where it can be well integrated into the existing hub of the School. The design, although somewhat dictated by ‘Baseline Designs’, reflects the form and orientation of the existing School and minimises the impact on the ‘Area of Landscape Importance’ within which the site lies.
Although the scheme has not received funding to date, planning permission was granted in 2016.
