This is a large attractive Edwardian house with wide ranging views over the River Stour Valley. It was in need of updating when our client acquired the property, but fortunately many of the original Edwardian features were still present including beautiful fire surrounds and joinery. Our clients had a clear and imaginative vision of how they wanted to repair and improve the property, including the conversion of the roof space into a bedroom and bathroom with a dormer window, and the addition of a new staircase, and an orangery which exploits the views over the valley.
Oriel Architecture prepared detailed survey drawings upon which detailed layout options could be drawn up for discussion. Once decisions had been taken, the necessary applications were made and a comprehensive set of building regulation drawings prepared and submitted. Perhaps the most striking feature of this very satisfying and successful project is the new orangery, which was designed in close liaison with our client and Oriel Architecture with a specialist company in a style which sits perfectly on the facade of this lovely house.
