This extension to the school dining room provides a much needed additional 100 sq metres of additional space. The extension was part of a larger project involving the reconfiguration and improvement of the existing dining room, and the relocation of the sixth form centre.
The primary aim was to provide a functional dining space capable of accommodating an additional 160 places. However, the new facility also offered the opportunity to provide an attractive, light, contemporary building at the core of the school which relates sympathetically and closely to the existing quadrangle, the circulation routes and the surrounding spaces both internally and externally. The project also offered the opportunity to create a versatile space capable of being used for a variety of activities such as seminars, exhibitions, meetings, and even art, drama and music events.
